Lois Joy Thompson, of Hopelawn, passed away surrounded by her family on September 3, 2022, at the Venetian Care & Rehabilitation Center in South Amboy.

She was born in Perth Amboy, grew up in Fords, and has resided in Hopelawn since 1967.  Lois was a Lab Secretary for 29 years at JFK Hospital in Edison, retiring in 2019.  Lois was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church serving on the Altar Guild.

Lois was predeceased by her husband, George Thompson; her parents, Thomas and Ester Andersen; her brother Thomas and his wife, Jane; and her brother, Edward.

Surviving are her daughter, Eileen Zodl and her husband, Kevin, of Fords; her son, Brian Thompson and his wife, Jennifer, of Hopelawn; her grandchildren: Rebecca, Jonathan and his wife, Dallys, Joseph, Amelia, and Thomas; her goddaughter, Cheryl DiPietro; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863.  Funeral Services will be immediately after the viewing, starting at 11:00 am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 28 S 4 ^th Street, Fords, NJ 08863.  Interment will follow at Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
