Lissa R. Shields sadly passed away after a difficult illness on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Lissa was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Staten Island. She was a graduate of the New Dorp High School, class of 1981, and then went on to attend college at the College of Staten Island.  She later moved out to the Fords section of Woodbridge Township in 2002, and relocated to Edison only about a year ago.  Lissa was a dedicated coffee enthusiast!  She loved her "Dunkin." She was a loyal supporter of her disco music; always encouraging people to have a good time!  Lissa was a very spiritual person who was connected with nature, the sun, the moon, and the stars.  She truly was a lover of life, and life loved her right back.

As a devoted homemaker Lissa was dedicated to her children. She cherished her family and friends, and enjoyed sharing holiday traditions with them.  She always gave them her unconditional love, support, and strength.  Even in her weakest hours she was brave and strong; encouraging her children to remember and honor her, but be strong and carry on with their lives.

Lissa was preceded in death by her parents Salvatore and Vivian Spisto; older sister Luanne and her husband John Cipriano; and brother-in-law Michael Abreu. She is survived by her beloved children: Dominick, Salvatore, Micayla, Maura and her husband Jose, Richard and his wife Heejoo; her only grand-baby Emma; sisters Christine Hanna and her husband Bruce, and Phyliss Abreu.  Lissa will also be missed by her 10 nieces and 21 great-nieces and nephews, many cousins and her grand-puppy "Melo."  With such a large family, they were blessed by all the opportunities they had to make beautiful memories.

Friends may call on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords from 2:00pm until 7:00pm. There will be a funeral service at 5:30pm*.  Cremation will take place privately.
