Lillian P. "Lil" Royce  Handerhan, 96, of Perth Amboy entered into eternal rest January 29, 2017.  Lil was born and a lifelong resident of the City. She graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1938 where she met her true love and sunshine, Raymond F. Handerhan, Jr.  They married in June of 1942 and raised two daughters.

Lil had many working experiences from banking and clothing design to Director of Senior Citizens for Perth Amboy.  Being Director from 1977 to 2000 was rewarding as she enjoyed being social and helping others.  With the seniors she organized many holiday and fun events as well as trips from local to international destinations. She enjoyed her Atlantic City bus trips the most.  She was also involved in all of the PA Senior Clubs.

She was a former communicant of St. Mary's R C Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.  Lil and Ray were members of the Raritan Yacht Club where they spent many fun days with family and friends.

For those of you that had the privilege of knowing Lil, you know she had the most contagious laugh, loved to sing, bargain shop, tell a good joke, and spend time at the RYC.  She will be deeply missed by her loving family.  Her Irish smile and baby blue eyes will shine forever.

Lil was predeceased by her husband Ray in 2003, her daughter Pat Stitik in 2009, and her brother Charlie Royce in 1991. She is survived by her daughter Debbi Corej and her husband Jim of Oceanport, her son-in-law Fred Stitik, grandchildren Derick, Todd, Carrie, and Lauren, and great grandchildren Cooper, Chloe, Seth, Griffin, and Penelope Rae.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy followed by a 10:30 am Eucharist Service at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.  Interment will be in the Churchyard.  Visitation is Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm .
