Leonard H. Kress, 73, of Freehold, passed away on November 5, 2014 at Centra State Medical Center. He was born in Perth Amboy on May 23, 1941. He has resided in Freehold for the last 16 years, prior to that he lived in Fords for many years. Leonard was the President of Colors to Go, decorating center in Perth Amboy and Freehold, NJ. He was the Vice President of Northeast Stage in Freehold and a former Secretary of Fords Little League. He was the Rear Commodore of the Keasbey Boat Club; Fourth Degree K of C, Council #9199 at Our Lady of Peace in Fords. Leonard served in the US Army as a Staff Sargeant for the 78th Division. He was a member of the Redevelopment Board in Perth Amboy and was a member of the Advisory Board to the Salvation Army in Perth Amboy.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan (nee Curry) Kress of Freehold; two sons, Robert Kress and his wife, Ann Marie of Freehold; Richard Kress and his wife, Karen of Duluth, GA; daughter, Donna Guserra and her husband Rob of Freehold; five grandchildren, Kelly; Katie; Ryan; Shannon; and Cassidy; brother, William D. Kress.
Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin Saturday 9:30 am at the funeral home, followed by a 10 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Linden.
