Leona Sheldrick, 79, of Clark, passed away Friday, November 22, 2019 at her home. Mrs. Sheldrick was born in Jersey City and had previously lived in Harrison and Kearny before moving to Clark nine years ago.

Mrs. Sheldrick was employed as a chocolatier by Van-Holtens Chocolate in Kearny for over forty years before retiring in 2005.

She was a former member of the Holy Cross Church in Harrison. She was also a member of the VFW Post 340 in Harrison and the B.P.O.E. Moose Lodge in Harrison.

Leona was predeceased by her husband Francis L. Sheldrick in 1996, her sister Coranne O'Callaghan and also by her daughter- in- law Dawn Sheldrick.

Surviving are her daughter: Jeannine Sheldrick-Boles and husband Glenn of Clark, her son: Sean Paul Sheldrick of Harrison, her step-son Kevin Sheldrick and wife Theresa of Port St. Lucie, FL, her sister: Joan Sorensen also of Port St. Lucie, FL, eleven grandchildren: Katie Ann, Kevin, Tom, Andrew, Caitlin, Connor, Patricia, Danielle, Mackenzie, Connor and Shane, four great grandchildren Emma, Tyler, Madison and Jade and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to meet Monday, November 25, 2019, at the St. John the Apostle RC Church, 1805 Penbrook Terrace, Linden for a 10:00 am mass of Christian burial. Cremation will follow at the Rosehill Crematory in Linden. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mitruska Funeral Home in Fords.
