Leo Kaufman, 94, and Judith R. Kaufman, 90, passed away within hours of each other on July 2nd and 3rd, of age-related complications at their home in Warren, NJ. After celebrating 70 years of marriage in June, it is miraculous that they departed this world together.
Leo, born in Perth Amboy to Sol and Lillian Reder Kaufman in 1925, graduated from Perth Amboy HS in 1943 and served in the US Navy before enrolling at the U. of Oklahoma. He returned home to the family business, O. K. Electric, where he spent his career. In 1949, Leo married the former Judith Raw, of Trenton, living in Metuchen to raise their family.
Judith R. Kaufman, born in Philadelphia to Dr. Lester and Rita Raw in 1929 and raised in Trenton, graduated from Douglass College in 1949, the same year as her marriage.
They are survived by their children, Kyler, Nancy Kaufman, son-in-law, David Lowenherz; beloved grandson, Jake Lowenherz; Leo's brother, Howard Kaufman and sister-in-law, Marian Kaufman.
Services will be held on Sunday, July, 7, 2019, at 11:00 am at Flynn & Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave, Perth Amboy, NJ, 08861.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Hospice at Visiting Nurse Assoc. of Somerset Hills.
