Obituary

Lena Federico (nee Serio), 87, of Edison, passed away at JFK Medical Center in Edison on January 6, 2022.

Born on Staten Island, NY, to the late Vincent Serio and Esther Thompson Serio, she had resided in Edison for the past 60 years. After graduating Port Richmond High School, Lena took some college classes and worked as an Administrative Assistant. But she knew her place was to take care of her family and be a loving homemaker which she has done for the past 58 years. She was a devoted mother who spent her time volunteering at St. Francis Cathedral School while her daughters and grandson were students there.  She enjoyed bowling, needlepoint, and traveling around the world.  Above all, she loved her family and was often found babysitting her grandsons and attending their games.  She was an animal lover and especially loved her many dogs.

Lena was predeceased by her parents and her husband Jack Federico.

Lena is survived by her sister, Rose Serio of Edison; her daughters, Rosemary Kasper and her husband, Jeff of Edison; and Ann Marie Lehberger and her husband, Art of Bridgewater; her cherished grandsons: Andrew Lehberger, Brian Kasper, and Jack Lehberger.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ.  A 10:15 am Funeral Liturgy will take place at St. Francis Cathedral, 548 Main Street, Metuchen on Thursday, January 13, 2022.   Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice in Lena's memory would be very much appreciated. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
