Lee John Straube, 84, of Fords, passed away on July 31, 2017, at Brighton Gardens of Edison, NJ. Born in Perth Amboy, he resided in Fords for the past 59 years. He was an Accountant with Chevron, Perth Amboy and Elizabeth Bay Way Refineries. Lee was a four-letter man at Woodbridge High School, Class of 1951. He played basketball at Seton Hall and played and won the NIT Championship Game in 1953 at Madison Square Garden. He served in the U.S. Army during peace time.
Lee was predeceased by his parents Loepold and Lillian Straube, his brothers Edward and Chester and his sister-in-law Margaret Straube. He is survived by his wife, Dolores (Della Pietro), of 57 years; his sons, Lee J. Straube, Jr. and his wife, Lorraine, of Maryland and Glenn Straube of Fords; and four grandchildren: Lee, Tyler, Holly and Travis.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, from 5-9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
