Larry Karpati obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Karpati 56 of Avenel on May 3rd, 2020 after a courageous 5 year battle with metastatic colon cancer.

Larry was born in Edison on October 11, 1963. Larry's lifetime work was a Rare Book Collector. He graduated from JP's Stevens 1981 and went onto the performing arts at Kean College & graduated with an associates degree from Mercer County college. Larry grew up in the family produce business in Fords and was an avid gardener as well.

Larry's passion for writing was a lifetime love. Larry's poetry was published many times during his life starting with the local paper, as a teenager it was displayed in high school with an entire wall dedicated to his writings.

Larry's interest and intellect with books was amazing. Some of his true loves were F. Scott Fitzgerald, T.S. Eliot, Robert Frost, Thomas Wolfe & favorite Stephen King. There was no book too old or worn that Larry couldn't nurture. His knowledge and history of books was remarkable. Larry loved the words themselves, the paper they were printed on, the type of ink they were written with. He was also very proud of the performing arts including his performance as Tom Wakefield in The glass Menagerie. Larry's kindness will never be forgotten as he had many friends in the book community and at the Trenton farmers market.

Larry will be missed dearly every day by his mother Barbara Karpati of Edison, his sister Lisa Reilly of Kentucky, Lorie Tudor(Robert) of Fords, and brother David Karpati of Union city, several nieces & nephews and sweetheart Joan Guarracini. Larry is now with his father Laszlo Karpati predeceased in death.
