With sorrow in our hearts but gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of Lan Liu on July 11, 2025, at the age of 74.

Born in Beijing in the winter of 1950, she carried with her a quiet elegance and a deep devotion to those she loved.

Throughout her life, Lan brought beauty and care into everything she touched — from her thoughtful gifts to her handwritten cards, from her jade jewelry to the nut breads she loved to bake. She traveled the world with curiosity and gratitude, always returning with something meaningful for the people she cared about.

Lan had a generous spirit and a deep sense of dignity. She was deeply grateful to those who helped her and never forgot a kindness. She left this world as she lived in it — with grace, intention, and love.

She is survived by her beloved husband Zhenwei Yuan, her extended family, and a circle of lifelong friends who will miss her wit, wisdom, and warmth.
