Kongan Zhou, 60, a devoted father and accomplished engineer, passed away in the comfort of his home in Edison, NJ on August 14, 2025, following a courageous battle with ALS.

Kongan was born in China and moved to the United States in his late 20s to further his education. He earned two Engineering masters degrees from the University of Georgia and Texas A&M. He lived for many years in Texas, before relocating to New Jersey in recent years. He had a long career as an Electrical Engineer prior to his diagnosis with ALS over two years ago. He is predeceased by his late wife, Yan Tong, and survived by his daughter Jessie and his son Jeffrey. Kongan's life was defined not only by his academic and professional achievements but also by his deep commitments to his family and his enduring resilience in the face of illness. His warmth, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 4-6 pm at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840. Private interment will take place at Ferncliff Cemetery on Monday.
