Kevin Lee Savoia, Sr. 52, of Fords, passed suddenly, in his sleep on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at his home.
Born in Perth Amboy, he had resided in Fords for the last 22 years.
He was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, with the class of 1981.
Kevin retired 2 years ago after serving 28 years as a Sergeant with the Perth Amboy Police Department and was currently serving as a special officer with the department and also was the Security Supervisor for Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY.
He was a communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Hopelawn, a 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council # 299, a member of the Ogden Social Club and the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #80 all of Perth Amboy.
He was a past president of the Fords Clara Barton Baseball League and was an avid baseball and softball player for local teams.
He also had been an umpire with various leagues in the area.
He was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Helen Savoia.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 22 years, Donna Jean Savoia, his four beloved children, Nadine P. of Perth Amboy, Kevin Lee, Jr., Kyle Lucas and Kelsey Lynn Savoia, all at home, his two grandchildren, Devyn and Heavyn, his brother, Michael P. Savoia and his wife Cathy, of Perth Amboy and his sister, Barbara Savoia of Perth Amboy. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Flynn and son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.
Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from the Flynn and son Funeral Home, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Holy Rosary Church of the Good Shepherd Parish, 623 Florida Grove Rd. Hopelawn, NJ 08861, entombment will follow in St. James Cemetery Mausoleum, Woodbridge.
