Kathleen Lisa
Thorik
November 22, 1946 – June 23, 2024
With a spirit as vibrant and captivating as her favorite "dream" car a red Ferrari, Kathleen Lisa Thorik ,aged 77, fondly known as Kathy to her loved ones, passed away peacefully at Covenant Shores Health Center Mercer Island, Washington on June 23, 2024. She was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, on November 22, 1946. Kathy was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School Class of 1964. She then graduated from Katherine Gibbs Business School in NYC. Kathy worked as an Executive Assistant with Hess Corporation NJ. for many years. In the late 90's she took a position with Tosco Corp. in Greenwich, Ct. and then with Towers Perrin in Stamford, Ct. where her sister Arleen resided, eventually retiring in 2010. In 2021 Kathy moved to Mercer Island, Washington to be near Arleen & Peter who retired to the Seattle area to be near their daughter Valerie and her family. Much quality time was spent in enjoying family activities together.
Kathy always enjoyed her independence and the freedom to pursue her passions. Her love for travel took her to stunning corners of the world, including Rio de Janeiro, Paris, London, Rome, Venice, and Athens. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life – following tennis, football, the thrill of Formula 1 races, and the authentic tastes of Jersey Mike's.
Kathy is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Arleen and Peter Weber, her supportive niece & nephew-in-law Valerie & Jamie Millar, and her grand-nephews Evan and Caleb Millar whose lives were enriched by her presence. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Anthony and Grace Thorik of Menlo Park, N.J.
She was a beacon of joy, resilience, and authenticity, living life on her terms and leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met. Kathy's love for her parents and family knew no bounds. Her dear "forever" friends Susan Lestuk of Metuchen, N.J. and Joanne Mershon of Grand Ridge, Fl. mourn her loss as well.
Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in our heart and memories.
As we remember Kathy, we encourage those who knew her to leave memories and upload photos on her memorial page. She lived an extraordinarily full life, and her story deserves to be shared and celebrated.
A Graveside Service for her cremated remains will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 1:00 pm at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Keasbey, NJ, under the direction of Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ.
