Obituary

Julia Kerekes Andreasen of Edison died at home on March 1, 2014. She was born in Perth Amboy in 1927 and lived in Edison for over fifty years.  In 1952 she married the love of her life, Charles Andreasen, who kindly and lovingly cared for her over the years, especially this last year when she was ill.
Mrs. Andreasen attended Our Lady of Hungary School and graduated from Perth Amboy High School.  She began her career in bookkeeping and later data information processing, at General Cable in Perth Amboy.  She then joined the Ford Motor Company at their Edison Plant, where Julia enjoyed 24 years of service, retiring in 1991.
Mrs. Andreasen served as a Democratic Committee Woman in Edison's 9th District and always worked the polls at election time.  She was an active member of the Hungarian American Democratic Club of Middlesex County, as well as the Edison Democratic Club.  After retirement, Julia was a member of AARP Chapter 3446 as well as the Edison Seniors Club.  For over thirty years, she was a "friendly visitor" at John F. Kennedy Hospital, bringing cheer to patients.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Fords. Julia also was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and a Eucharistic Minister at the church.
Her husband, Charles, as well as her daughter Jane Della Grotta and her husband John Della Grotta, both attorneys, who reside in Newport Beach, California, survive Julia.  Her two grandsons, Robert Della Grotta of Irvine, California, and Fletcher Della Grotta of Newport Beach also survive her. Julia was very proud when Robert, who graduated from Pepperdine University while on a baseball scholarship, also was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays.  Her grandson Fletcher Della Grotta will graduate the Eller College of Management, University of Arizona this May and will begin his career as a Computer Engineer.  She was especially happy that Fletcher followed in her footsteps as a Eucharistic Minister.  Her sister and best friend, Margaret Kolasa, as well as many nieces and nephews and their children survive her.  She is predeceased by her brother Charles Kerekes and his wife Elizabeth, as well as her sister, Rose Kerekes.
