Josephine Sommese, 96, of Staten Island, NY, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017, at Runnells Center for Rehabilitation in Berkley Heights, NJ.  Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Quinciano and Elvira Venuto, she resided on Staten Island for many years before moving to Runnells in 2010.  She was a Homemaker who devoted her life to her family.  She enjoyed bowling and crocheting.

Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Gennaro; her brother, Louis Venuto; and her sister, Carmella Molitano.  She is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Viel and her husband, Tony, of Stockton; her son, John Sommese and his former wife, Carol, of Staten Island, NY; her five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Thomas and Joseph Venuto, both of Florida.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ 08840.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 am with a funeral service at 11:00 am.  Interment will be in the Long Island National Veteran's Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY, at 1:00 pm.
