Joseph Zaccagnino, 82, of Fords, passed peacefully at home, with his family at his side, on Friday, November 25, 2016.

Joe finally lost his courageous fight with cancer. He was known as "The man who was always willing to help someone in need." He shared his love of carpentry and was known as "The Godfather of the Garden"

Born in Dunmore, PA,  he had resided in Fords for over 50 years.

He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and Penn State Extension School in PA and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.

He was a retired carpenter with Local #65 in Perth Amboy.  Prior to that, he had been a draftsman with the Westinghouse Corp. in Edison, for 19 years.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords, and was an avid walker at the Woodbridge Community Center.

Joseph leaves behind, his beloved wife of 24 years, Louise, his four beloved daughters, Teresa Thompson of Cream Ridge, Mary (& Paul) Farley of Jackson, Angela (& Rocco) Ciccolini of East Hanover and Joan Karczewski of Edison, seven grandchildren; Zachary, Lucas, Kelsey, Katelyn, Kylie, Joey and Jake, two brothers; Pete (& Lorraine) of Maryland and Danny (& Jean) of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 4- 8 pm at, the Flynn and Son Funeral

Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 9 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church, entombment, will follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
