Joseph G.
Signorile
May 28, 1957 – May 2, 2026
Joseph G. Signorile, 68, of Monroe Township, passed away suddenly on May 2, 2026, at Virtua Mount Holly Hospital. Joseph was born on Staten Island and lived in Perth Amboy most of his life before moving to Monroe Township. Joe was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1975. He served his country proudly as a Marine, graduating from Paris Island. He served in Desert Storm as a Staff Sergeant, retiring from service after 20 years.
Upon returning, he was employed as a Correction Officer for the Rahway State Prison. He also had a short career as a Middlesex County Park Ranger. Joe went on to become a Perth Amboy Policeman / Detective with 25 years of service to the Department before retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Middlesex County Hostage Negotiations and Recovery Team, Past PBA President Local #13, a Middlesex County Police Academy Instructor, Member of the American Legion and a volunteer Exempt Fireman for Perth Amboy. Joe received many accolades for his heroism during his career from the Honor Legion of New York City and New Jersey and State of New Jersey Honor Legion.
Joe was also a faithful man. He was a communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church of Good Shepherd Parish and a member of the Knights of Columbus #299 of Perth Amboy, where he was knighted as a 3rd Degree Knight.
He had many interests; one being the love of music. He had a beautiful, deep voice for singing and for a short time he worked as a DJ. Oldies rock and country were his passion. Joe was an American and world history enthusiast. He loved to read about it, watch documentaries, and host trivia quizzes at the dinner table with his children. In younger days, enjoyed playing cards with his friends, winning most of the time because of a good poker face. In fact, he was in a Texas Holdem Championship and he won! Another passion was his love of cars. Joe had many cars over the years and sometimes raced at Englishtown. He loved his trucks and cars, especially his 81 Camaro, 1923 Ford TBucket Roadster, and sweet Corvettes. Joe participated in many parades and car shows which became a family pastime. A proud lifetime motorcycle rider, he loved his Harley's and joined in many motorcycle runs to benefit others including children's hospitals and turkey donation runs.
In his later years, happiness was his recliner and Bubbs at his side watching sports on TV. He loved all sports especially NASCAR, the NY Yankees, and the Washington Redskins.
Joe was perceived as having a hard exterior demeanor from his lifetime of LEO and Military background, but he was extremely soft and sentimental when it came to his family and animals, keeping treasured mementos, and reminiscing about all of the wonderful things that brought him joy. He was a true teddy bear at heart; sharing his laugh, smile and love with his children and fur grandpups.
Joe was predeceased by his son, Jonathan J. Signorile (11/3/2019); his father, Cosmo Signorile (2004); and his late sister, Marie Signorile.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce Ann Signorile; his daughter, Jacqueline Signorile and her life partner, Christopher Siclari; his mother, Diane Signorile; his sister, Diane Signorile; his brother, Michael Signorile; his Godchildren, Debbie Lanahan and Eric Matey; and his furry grandson, Bubbs.
