Joseph Sclafani passed away on Friday, July 5, just days after his 93rd birthday. Joseph was born in Manhattan and was a longtime Staten Island resident. He published the Staten Island Register with Diane, his wife of 62 years, who predeceased him in February 2023.

He had perfect attendance at his North Shore Rotary club meetings for over 40 years, including one term as president.

He will be remembered for his love of family, Sunday dinners at his mother's and meatballs.

He is survived by his daughters Joanne Lent and Frances Brennan and his son Lawrence Sclafani; his son-in-law Michael Lent and his daughter-in-law Kathleen Sclafani; and 7 grandchildren Robert Brennan and his wife Nicole, Thomas Brennan, Kate Brennan, Sarah Lent, Edward Lent, Nina Sclafani and Paul Sclafani. He is also survived by three of his six brothers and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 9:45 AM from Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen followed by a 10:15 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the CHARGE Syndrome Foundation.
