Joseph C. Schweikert, "JC," passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024 after an extended illness at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison.

Born and raised in Newark, he was the son of the late Charles and Rose DeFrisco Schweikert. While growing up, Joseph met his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Mitchell, who later became his beloved wife. During their 59 years together, they were blessed with two daughters Pamela and Jennifer.

Joseph had a long and wonderful career at Columbia Savings Bank.  He was working in bank management upon his retirement after over 40 years of service. From 1963-65 he served his country in the Army National Guard.  During time at home Joseph enjoyed taking care of the yard and gardening.  When the fall arrived, it was time for Giants football.  But, above all, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren brought him the most joy.

Joseph is survived by his devoted wife Cynthia; his daughters Pam Lund, her husband Ken, Jennifer Killeen, her husband Gregg; his grandchildren: Nicholas, Jessica, Brian, Brandon, and Briana; and his brother Al Schweikert.

Friends may call on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 9:00am – 10:00am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords where funeral services will begin at 10:00am.  A funeral liturgy will follow at 10:30am in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Fords.  Interment will take place in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia
