Joseph "Mel" Morriale, age 98, of Fords, New Jersey, died March 23, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on January 10, 1919 in Manhattan, New York, to the late Baldassare and Grazia, he grew up speaking Sicilian and English.

He was predeceased by his wife, Florence, and his siblings: George, Grace and Charlie.

He is survived by his four children: Robert, Ronnie, Robin, and Rita; his grandchildren: Joseph, Michael, LeighAnna, Tina, and Theresa; his great-grandchildren: Anthony and Anna; and his nieces and nephews. He loved spending time with his family.

He was an excellent cook and was known for feeding anyone who entered his house. He also enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid Yankees fan. He also had an avid interest in world history.
