Joseph " Pogo" S. Handerhan, 74, of Hopelawn entered into eternal rest February 12, 2022 at JFK Medical Center in Edison following a long term illness.   He was born in Perth Amboy grew up in Fords, and resided in Hopelawn for the past 40 years.

Joseph was employed at Reynolds Metals and Linden Motor Freight in Linden before retiring in 2010.

He was an avid bowler, happy gambler, loved horse racing, football, and movies.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents William and Josephine Dafcik Handerhan, and his brother Stanley.  He is survived by his life partner of 50 years, Dorothy Grezner, her daughter, Darlene Grezner ( Curtis Reitz ),  her son, Gary Grezner both who he loved as his own; his siblings: Beatrice Szekeres ( Robert ), William ( Diane ), David ( Maureen ), Michael ( Laura ), and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at 10 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Avenue, Fords.  Entombment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park Mausoleum.  Visitation is Tuesday February 15, 2022 from 2pm to 4 pm.
