A Memorial Funeral Liturgy for Joseph Matthew Egan, 100 years of age, of Mission Viejo, CA, formerly of Perth Amboy, NJ., who passed away on May 11, 2026, will take place on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10 am at St Stephen's RC Church, 490 State Street, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.

His cremated remains will be laid to rest, complete with a bagpiper and US Naval honors, in St Mary's Cemetery, 730 Amboy Avenue Perth Amboy NJ 08861, immediately following the mass.

At 100 years old, still quick with a joke or a piece of hard candy, Joseph M. Egan passed away in Mission Viejo, CA on Monday, May 11, 2026 from heart failure. Born to Matthew and Inger (Larsen) Egan (both deceased) in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on December 17, 1925. Graduating Perth Amboy High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1943 to 1945, in World War II. Making 17 Atlantic crossings in an ammo ship dodging wolfpacks. Joseph worked 30 years as a Perth Amboy firefighter and 30 years as an Ironworker in local 373.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (Komick), in 1990 and son Sean, in 2000.

He is survived by sons; Joseph of Aliso Viejo, CA and Matthew and Nancy (Marola) of San Clemente, CA and their daughters; Kelly and Nick Kielland of Thousand Oaks, CA and their two sons, Leonardo and Viggo. Also, daughter Audrey and Ben Scribner of Tiburon, CA and their daughter Serena.
