Joseph George Cohen's Obituary
Joseph George Cohen, 95, of Monroe Twp. NJ, passed away on January 4, 2015, at CentraState Medical Center. He was born on August 26, 1919 in Perth Amboy. George was the Owner/Operator of D. Cohen and Sons Hardware Store in Perth Amboy. He graduated Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1937. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was a past president of the Perth Amboy YMHA and served on the Board for many years. George also served on the Board at Congregation Shaarey Tefiloh. He loved to travel, build and maintain Jewish community.
He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Cohen, in 2012; brother, Irving Cohen; sisters, Leah Turkus, Frances Spielman and Freida Katz.
George is survived by his son, Mark Cohen, of Basking Ridge.
The family will receive mourners, Wednesday 10-11 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Services will be at 11 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery.
Donations may be made in George's name to Magen David Adom in Israel.
