Joseph P. Calavetta, 79, of Fords, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Roosevelt Care Hospice in Edison, NJ. Joseph was born in Brooklyn, NY, to John and Rosaria Calavetta and was one of three children. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960 and proudly served under the 48 ^th Infantry Regiment Dragoons while stationed in Germany until 1963. Joseph was a successful hairstylist at Dimensions Hair Salon in Avenel for 25 years, retiring in 2016. He loved meeting new people and was a great handyman, lending assistance to anyone who needed it. Joseph was known for his big heart and kind soul and always felt his biggest treasure in life was his family.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, John and Rosaria Calavetta and his brother, Philip Calavetta.

He leaves behind his beloved son Joseph J. Calavetta and daughter in-law, Kimberly, of Fords, NJ; his cherished grandchild, Joseph C. Calavetta; devoted sister, Angie Graffeo and her husband, Tony, of Deer Park, LI; sister-in-law, June Calavetta (late brother Philip's wife); beloved nephews: John Calavetta, Steve Calavetta, John Graffeo, Mike Graffeo, and Anthony Graffeo; and his great nieces and nephews.
