Joseph Brinamen, 74, passed away at JFK Medical Center in Edison on Friday, April 8, 2022.
Born and raised in South Amboy, he was the son of the late Charles and Marie McKeon Brinamen. After high school Joseph entered the US Air Force where he served for three years. In 1975 he married Bonita Ann Bertram and they eventually settled in Woodbridge. During his career, Joseph worked for the Garden State Parkway Authority where he eventually became supervisor of the toll collectors. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church in Woodbridge. Very devoted to his parish, he was a Eucharistic Minister and often volunteered for church activities. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #857, the American Legion Post #87, and the VFW.
In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his brothers Thomas and James Brinamen. He is survived by his wife of almost 47 years Bonita Brinamen; his children Joy and Daniel Brinamen; brother Charles Brinamen; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Services will begin at the funeral home at 10:00am on Tuesday followed by a 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial from St James Catholic Church, 145 Grove St., Woodbridge. Entombment will take place in St. James Cemetery Mausoleum, Woodbridge.
