Obituary

Jose Manuel Muñiz, 68, of Colts Neck, NJ, passed peacefully at the Central State HealthCare Hospital in Freehold, NJ, on August 22, 2021.
He was born in Santander, Spain on April 29, 1953.  He attended Lafayette Elementary in Newark then Don Bosco High School in Spain before returning to the U.S. to marry and raise his family in Fords then Edison, NJ before relocating to Colts Neck, NJ in 1988.
He received his bachelors from Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT) in Electrical Engineering and was sent by Western Electric of Bell Laboratories to earn in one year his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in Manhattan.  At this time he secured a U.S. Patent in laser technology.
After leading his father's company Raritan Construction Co. in Sayreville, NJ, he then founded and operated Footings, Walls, & Slabs, Inc. in Colts Neck for the last 19 years.
He was a communicant of St. Mary R.C. Church in Colts Neck and a former member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in Fords, NJ.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents Bernardino and America Muñiz.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Mercedita Torres Muñiz, his beloved son Alexander Torres Muñiz and his wife Kristina of Middletown, his beloved daughter, Samantha M. Colomer and her husband Francisco of Colts Neck, his four cherished grandchildren; Bernardino, Antonio, Solana and Frankie, and his loving sister, Raquel Barros and her husband Jose of Edison and dear brother, Bryan Muñiz and his wife Ursula of Old Bridge and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 27, 2021, from 4 pm to 8 pm , at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863 .
Funeral services will begin on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 9 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church at 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery Mausoleum of 53 Inman Ave, Colonia, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, at Stjude.org or by mail at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 .
