Jose J. Magalhaes, 66 years, of Perth Amboy, NJ, passed peacefully, on Monday, February 10, 2025 at the JFK University Medical Center in Edison, NJ.  He was born in Celorico de Basto, Portugal.  In 2004, Jose had immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Perth Amboy, NJ, where he had resided ever since. As a young man he had served his country in the Portuguese Army.

Jose was formerly employed for over 10 years as a construction worker with J. Fletcher Cramer & Son, Inc. in Linden, NJ, before retiring. He was also a member of Laborer's Union, Liuna Local # 472 in Newark.   He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima in Perth Amboy and was also a member of the Portuguese Sporting Club.

Jose was predeceased by his beloved parents, Guilhermino Magalhaes and Ana Fernandes and his brother, Guilhermino Magalhaes.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 20 years, Maria Fernandes of Perth Amboy; his two daughters, Monica and Solange Magalhaes; his two step-daughters, Julie Ferreira of California and Andrea Ferreira at home; and his 11 siblings: Gervasio and Miguelina Fernandes, Margarida, Antonio, Emilia, Domingos, Teresa, Amelia, Manuel,  Ana and Casimiro Fernandes Magalhaes, all of Portugal.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a service at 5:00 pm officiated by Rev. Lauro Sedlmayer at the Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863. Cremation services will follow privately.
