Jose R. Gaviero, 86, of Somerset, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017, at J.F.K. Medical Center, Edison. Born in Camaguey, Cuba, Jose resided in Edison prior to moving to Somerset.  He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from LSU, Class of 1955.  Jose was employed by American Cyanamid until his retirement in 1993.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Maria Esther Gaviero; his two daughters, Katie Gaviero-Escobar and her husband, Rudolfo Escobar, and Maria Gaviero-Roberts and her husband, Jim Roberts; five grandchildren: Rudy, Andrew, Patrick, Ryan and Dean; and a sister, Julia Rosa Gaviero.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017, from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords.  Funeral services will be held at 10:15 AM, Friday, December 29, 2017, at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. A graveside service and entombment will follow in St. Teresa of Avila Chapel Mausoleum, Summit, at Noon.
