John Yager Sr., 90, of Metuchen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was a resident of Metuchen for 55 years. John was s supervisor for G.S.A. in Edison. He also served in The US Army and fought in Normandy Invasion. He graduated form Culpeper High School in Virginia. He loved baseball and was an ace pitcher. He built a log cabin for Herbert Hash.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy (nee Williams) Yager of Metuchen; son, John Yager Jr., of Metuchen and five daughters: Pamela Pelley and her fiancé, Eddie, of Metuchen; Roxie Biro and her husband, Les, of Metuchen; Bonnie Chu and her husband, Rodger, of Toms River; Shelley Windos and her husband, Jerry, of Metuchen; Lisa Amoroso and her husband, Chris, of North Brunswick; six grandchildren: Dawn, Allan, Dominic, Brittany, Zachary, and Olivia; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Yager of Fort Washington, MD, and Charles Yager of Culpeper, VA; sister, Loretta Wyatt of Springfield, MD and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ 08840. Funeral services will begin Thursday at 9:15 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Service of Requiem at St. James Episcopal Church in Edison. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
