Obituary

John A. Wolff died peacefully at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, NJ, on March 28, 2017, at the age of 87 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 29, 1929, at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, to John George and Anna Jane Wolff.  John graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1946.  He received is undergraduate degree and his MBA from Seton Hall University in 1950 and 1955, respectively.

John served his country from 1951-1953 in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps during the Korean War.

John had a 41-year professional career at American Cyanamid Company which became one of the nation's top 100 manufacturing companies. During his long career, John rose to Director of Data Processing and managed plants across the domestic United States. Upon his retirement, John began a second career spanning 26 years as President of JBW, Inc., a real estate holding and infill development corporation which was responsible for pioneering commercial and residential projects in the City of Perth Amboy. Many of his projects helped to change the landscape and face of the city for years to come.

John's civic service included President of the Fords Fire Commissioners, Fire District #7 and Second Ward Councilman in the Township of Woodbridge.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lillian Theresa, and four children: John (Linda) Wolff, Rosanne (Russell) Mattoon, Dr. James (Barbara) Wolff, and Kathleen (Edward) Reckage. He is grandfather to Craig (Nicole), Lorelle (David), Jessica (Pat), Andrea (Jeremy), John Ryan, Kirsten, Erika, Kyleigh, Alanna, and Brant, and great-grandfather to Jaxson, Grayson, and Mia.  He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Esther) Wolff.

John lived his life as a simple and humble man with a sense of strong faith and family. His presence was impressive and his loss will leave an immeasurable void to those who knew him.

John loved to summer at his beach house on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and was a fierce supporter of his Seton Hall Pirates and New York Yankees.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, April 2, from 1-4 and 6-8 PM at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ. Funeral service will be on Monday, April 3, at 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 AM Funeral Liturgy at Good Shepherd Parish, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 625 Florida Grove Road, Perth Amboy, NJ. Entombment will be in St. James Cemetery Mausoleum, Woodbridge, NJ.
