John W. Witkowski, 76, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2017. Born in West Hazleton, PA and formerly of Swedesboro, NJ he had resided in Metuchen, NJ for over 35 years. He received his BS Degree at the Newark College of Engineering. John retired in 2006 after over 42 years as an Enforcement Team Leader for the Removal Action Branch with the US EPA in Edison, NJ. A Former member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the North Port Poetry Group, John loved to tell stories, write poetry and listen to country music.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elaine A. Witkowski, who died in 2005, and his niece, Lisa Stefanacci in 2013. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Anne Marie of North Port, FL; his beloved sons, Stephen and his wife Alisha of North Port, FL and Ralph of Woodstown, NJ; his beloved granddaughter, Courtney; his brother William, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, and many cousins.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave. Metuchen, NJ 08840.
Funeral services will begin on Friday, August 18,, 2017 at 9:45 am from the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, followed by a 10:15 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen, NJ. An interment will follow in Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway, NJ.
