John Robert "Bob" Williams Jr, 79, of Metuchen, NJ, passed away on April 9 ^th , 2020 in Edison, NJ.

Bob was born in Jersey City, NJ to John Robert and Mildred Williams on June 29 ^th , 1940. He was raised in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ and attended Susquehanna University. After serving in the Army, he married Diane M. Gabella on April 24 ^th , 1965. Bob worked in corporate sales for 15 years before deciding to successfully open his own business in 1980.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane.

Among his many friends were members of Gamblers Anonymous and Gam Anon for over 48 years. Through this membership, Bob met his wife Maria Pia Carr Williams. They were married February 17 ^th , 1993.

Bob was an avid golfer and soccer fan. He was proud to be a season ticket holder of the MetroStars/NY Red Bulls, since their inaugural season in 1996, where he was the 13 ^th season ticket holder in club history. For over 20 years he was well known in the New Jersey soccer community as a soccer referee for the NJSIAA. He also had begun officiating High School Track and Field the last couple of years.

Bob is survived by his wife of 27 years, Pia; 4 children: Dawn Williams of Dunellen, NJ; Monica and John Lahey of Stewartsville, NJ; Scott and Rosemarie Williams of Goshen, NY; Cheryl and Marc Maleh of New York, NY; and 6 grandchildren: Taylor, Zachary, Alexander, Jenna, Sarah, and Liam.

A memorial celebration of Bob's life will be held at a future date.
