John Jacob Van Malden Sr., 81, of Fords, entered into eternal rest, Monday, October 29, 2012, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was born in Paterson and has resided in Fords for the past 50 years.
John was a Maintenance Mechanic with the Piscataway Board of Education for 10 years before retiring in 1997.
He retired from military service as a Sergeant after serving his country in the Air Force during WW II. John was a member of the Hopelawn VFW post # 1352, and served as a coach in the Fords Clara Barton Baseball little league.
John was predeceased by his wife, Rose Marie Van Malden, in 1997. He is survived by his son, John J. Van Malden Jr. and his wife Laura of Fords; his daughter, Michelle Westbrook and her husband Henry of Indian Trail, NC; and his grandchildren: John, Christopher, Jennifer, Alyssa, and Jason.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at 11:00 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords . Entombment will follow at St. James Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm.
