John William Shebel, 94, of Edison entered into eternal rest, Sunday, October 23, 2011, at the Amboy Care Center in Perth Amboy.

John was born in New Brunswick and resided in Edison most of his life. He worked in the Film Production Department at DuPont Film Division in Parlin for 30 years before retiring in 1979.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords and was an avid sports fan for Rutgers, the Mets, and the Jets.

John was predeceased by his sister, Marie. He is survived by Doris Rita Wheeler Shebel, his wife of 66 years; his children Joy Huether and her husband Robert of Edison; Pamela Shebel of West Windsor; Mary Jo Gudmestad and her husband Thomas of New Hope, PA; Susan Almquist of Carteret; Kathleen Koletis and her husband John of Scarborough, ME; Theresa Adams of Norfolk, VA; Lu Ann Fayder of Edison; Andre Shebel and his wife Sheryl of Dundee, NY; Robert Shebel of Edison; John Shebel Jr. and his wife Susan of Ellicott City, MD; 18 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at 10:00 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords followed by a 10:30 am funeral service at Our Lady of Peace Church. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:00-10:00 am only.
