John E. Sharp Sr., 95, of Edison formerly Metuchen died Thursday August 19, 2010 , at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park.
Born August 6, 1915, in Oak Park, IL, he resided in Metuchen for 50 years before moving to the Veteran's home. He was an Army Veteran of WW II. He worked from 1945 to 1957 as an Insurance Agent with Metropolitan Life on Long Island and later Equitable Life in Cranford. He also worked for Vanguard Transportation from 1960 to 1973. John was an avid golfer and worked at the Pro Shop of West Nine at Plainfield Country Club in his retirement. He belonged to F&AM Lodge 1047 in Baldwin, NY and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Metuchen.
John was predeceased by his wife, Rowena (McNeal) Sharp, in 1989 and his sister, Anne C. Boalmann. He is survived by his son, John E. Sharp Jr. of Metuchen; daughter, Deborah C. Loeb and husband Paul of Freehold; and grandsons David and Brian Loeb.
Eucharist Service will be held Monday evening August 23, 2010, at 6:00 pm at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (corner of Oak Avenue and RT 27 Metuchen,NJ). Visiting hours will be Monday from 4-6 pm at the church. Interment will be on Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada, OH.
