Obituary

John Andrew Sarisky, age 51, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Monday, August 17, 2026, at JFK University Medical Center in Edison, NJ.

John was born on March 13, 1975 in Perth Amboy, NJ. He grew up in Avenel, NJ, but later moved to Edison after getting married to the love of his life, Suzanne. John was a graduate of Colonia High School, class of 1993, attended Kean University and graduated from Middlesex County Auxiliary Police Academy.

The cornerstone of John’s life were the careers he chose, working both as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Edison for 25 years, and being an auxiliary police officer for the township of Woodbridge for 29 years. The connections he built throughout the years at these places were of utmost importance to him and he left a lasting impact on all those who knew him. He was an avid fan of both the Phillies and the Steelers, John also shared his knowledge and love for many genres of music, movies, and pop culture.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne Pontes Sarisky, and his cherished daughter, Juliana Elizabeth of Edison; his parents, Andrew and Barbara (Paloczie) Sarisky of Avenel; his sister, Jennifer Sarisky of Arlington, VA; two nephews, his Goddaughter, aunt, uncles, cousins and many close friends.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 21, 2026 between the hours of 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin the next morning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. A funeral mass will then follow at 10:30 next door at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Fords, NJ. John will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hopelawn, NJ.
