John Julius Mezey, 92 of Edison, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Perth Amboy and was a life-long resident of Edison.
John was an Industrial Designer by profession. He retired in 2000 from Robeson Industries. He had previously owned Mezey & Macowsky Assoc. and worked at Monte Levin Assoc. He faithfully served in the Merchant Marines as a Radio Operator during WW II. He was a communicant and Lector at Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Edison. He was a member of the Edison Seniors Club, and in his younger years he was a little league coach.
John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Julia Drwal Mezey; and his children Thomas J. Mezey of Peapack, James Joseph Mezey of Atlantic Highlands, and Carol Alexopoulos of Edison. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Murdock, of Edison, 8 grandchildren: Alexandra, Veronica, Lia, Matt, Evan, Alisa, Jill, and John and 6 great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Matthew, Nora, Brayden, Kate, and Anthony.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
