Obituary

John A. Mercurio, 84 of Brick, passed peacefully at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick, on Sunday, September 29, 2013.

He was born in Perth Amboy, was formerly of Iselin and has resided in Brick the last 3 years.
John was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Before retiring, Mr. Mercurio was a crossing guard for the Woodbridge Twp Police Department, prior to that he had been employed as a toll collector for the NJ Turnpike Authority for 15 years, and prior to that, he had been a parts manager for Boro Motors Of Metuchen.
He was a communicant of St. James R.C. Church in Woodbridge, an avid bowler and bocci player. John was the past president of the Catholic War Veterans, Post #1613 and member of the Italian Tripoli Club, both of Perth Amboy.
He was predeceased by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Rachel "Rae" Mercurio, his 3 children, Cindy Lange and her husband, Deacon Bill Lange of Woodbridge, Carol A. Borucki and her husband, Peter, of Brick, and John M. Mercurio and his wife, Jeanine of Brick, his dear 6 grandchildren, Jessica, Rachel, Daniel, Brian, Nick and Sara, and his devoted brothers, George Mercurio of Metuchen and Frank Mercurio of Linden.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the Flynn & son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. James Church in Woodbridge. Entombment will follow in St. James Mausoleum, Woodbridge.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
