Obituary

John F. "Jack" Cerulo, Jr, of Tinton Falls, passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2013; he was 62 years old. Jack was born in Newark, New Jersey on July 30, 1950. He was raised in Perth Amboy and lived there until 1985 when he moved to Woodbridge. Jack moved to Tinton Falls in 2010.

Jack graduated from Rider University and obtained his Master's Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Professionally, Jack worked in the banking industry for 32 years. He began his career in 1972 at Bankers Savings in Perth Amboy before moving to First Savings Bank in Perth Amboy in 1988. Jack retired in 2004 as Senior Vice President and member of the firm's executive committee.

Jack was a dedicated community leader and volunteer who worked tirelessly for the people of Perth Amboy. He previously served as President of the Perth Amboy Chamber of Commerce, the Perth Amboy Rotary Club, and President of the Holy Rosary Holy Name Society. He also served on the Business Improvement District, Urban Enterprise Zone, Economic Development Committee, and Special Improvement District within the City. Other than his family, Jack's passion was the Raritan Bay Area YMCA, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for over 25 years.

Jack was predeceased by his father, John F. Cerulo, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Nicholas and Elizabeth Olimpia; and his brother, Rev. Thomas N. Cerulo, O.Ss.T. Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Cynthia Cerulo; two sons and their wives, Nicholas J. and Dana Cerulo and Michael J. and Amy Cerulo. Jack was a loving son of his mother, Virginia Cerulo; brother of Susan Keating, David Cerulo and Betsy Cerulo; and grandfather to grandson, Jack A. Cerulo. Jack will be missed dearly by his nieces, nephews, former co-workers, and countless friends.

Funeral services will be held at 9 AM on Thursday, June 6, 2013, from Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, followed by a 9:30 AM funeral liturgy at The Good Shepherd Parish of Holy Rosary Church, Hopelawn. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery Hopelawn. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-3 and 6-8 PM.
