Green
September 23, 1940 – August 3, 2024
John Edward Green was born to Josephine and Edwin Lee Green in Nelson County, Virginia on September 23, 1940 and was called to
eternal rest on August 3. 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
He enlisted in the US Army in January, 1961 and after serving was honorably discharged. He worked for Supermarket General for over
40 years. He was a well loved and respected employee. He was known as a tough but fair Superintendent. John loved his family and
was well loved by them. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He said his heart "jumped" every time he saw
them. Even as his disease progressed and his memories faded he still remembered his kids. The names may get a little mixed up but he still
knew his babies. John was predeceased by his parents Josephine and Edwin, his brother Homer, his sister Linda and his daughter Lisa and his
grandsons Thomas and Trevon.
He leaves to mourn his memory his beautiful wife of 52 years, Dorothy Marie Green, his sister, Louise Giles, 5 children Pamela, John Jr (Arlett), Kenya, Ashanti and Edwin. 16 Grandchildren, Britney, Christopher, Jahmir, Branden, Ashley, BreAna, Taylor, Isharae, Kobe, Matthew, Jayden, Iyana, Ava, Micah, Edward and Eric. 21 great-grandchildren with three more on the way. And, a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
One of John's favorite sayings was Psalm 105:15-Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm! His favorite song was anything
by the Temptations.
