John Michael DeMatteo, 86 of Perth Amboy, NJ, passed away on Saturday November 26, 2022.
Mr. DeMatteo worked for the majority of his life and retired from Singer Co. as head of programming, followed by part time work as an accountant for Bellamo Oil Co. He had an honorable discharge from the National Guard in 1954, and from the Air Force in 1960.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed travelling, and loved going to the beach (especially Long Beach Island with his family and friends that he loved so much). John was heavily involved in the Church community, where he served as an executive board member on the Holy Name Society and received the "Man of the Year Award" twice. He was also a member of the Good Shepherd Seniors, and worked to help raise money for numerous charitable Church Organizations. However, his happiest times were those spent with his family.
John is predeceased by his parents John and Anna (DaPolito). He is survived by his dear wife Loraine (Ronnie), his daughters Monica and Dawn, and his grandsons Vincent and Nicholas.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 4pm-8pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 1, 2022 at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home with a funeral Mass starting at 11am at Good Shepherd Parish Most Holy Rosary Church, 625 Florida Grove Rd, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861. Mausoleum entombment to follow at St. James Cemetery Mausoleum in Hopelawn.
