John
Bihary
September 23, 1927 – May 12, 2024
John Bihary passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Hackensack-Meridian/JFK Medical Center. He was 96.
Born in Brownsville, PA, his family relocated to the Fords section of Woodbridge Township in 1928. They relocated once more in 1939 to Edison where he has lived in the same family house until his passing. In 1950 John entered the US Army and served in the 7th Infantry Division during the Korean War. One evening, John attended one of the local dances which were common "back in the day." This is where he met the love of his life, the lovely Rita Nowakoski. They were wed in 1960 and enjoyed 63 years of life together. Over the years John and Rita enjoyed many trips and traveled with John's childhood friends, Tom Gockel and Bill Dudash and their wives.
He was an avid gardener and known for his love of growing tomatoes and his mission in life was to learn something new every day, he loved to read. He was a person who loved others and was always lending a hand to help friends, neighbors and even strangers. He truly liked people and enjoyed talking with everyone he met.
John retired after 23 years of service from the Engelhard Corp. in 1991 where he was a specialist in the research division in their Menlo Park office. He was a man of strong faith and loved taking care of "his" church; and was a very active communicant, treasurer, and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Fords.
John is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Anna Bihary, and his brother Andrew Bihary, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife Rita; sons Kenneth and his wife Andrea, and Ronald Bihary.
