Obituary

John Mc Ardle, 80, of Perth Amboy, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 24, 2015 at Haven Hospice, JFK Medical Center, Edison. He was born and raised in Manhattan, New York City. John moved to Perth Amboy in 1958, after his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps. He was an Elevator Mechanic and member of the International Union of Elevator Constructers Local One in New York City for 42 years and a member of the New Jersey Elevator Safety Inspectors before his retirement in 2015. John was a member and past Lieutenant, Captain and President of the Protection Hook and Ladder Co. Truck #1 of the Perth Amboy Volunteer Fire Department since 1966 and served as The City of Perth Amboy Volunteer Fire Department Chief 1992-1993. He was a member and Past President of the Fireman's Relief Association. John was also a member of the New Jersey State Fire Chief's Association, the Perth Amboy Exempt Fireman's Association and the New Jersey Volunteer Fire Chief's Association.
John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an inspiration to all that knew him.
John was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Gloria (Gutowski), his brothers, Michael and Jimmy, and his sister, Marion Petito.
John leaves behind five beloved daughters, Kathleen A. Muttart of Silver Springs, MD., Kelly A. Trio and her husband Michael of Old Bridge, Karen A. Patrick and her husband Thomas of Tinton Falls, Kim A. Morrison and her husband Scott of Port Reading, and Kerri A. Villegas and her husband John of Woodbridge. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, Daniel, Jacqueline, Sarah, Nathan, Ryan, Kyle, Zachary, Casey, Sean, Alex and Christopher, his brother, Peter, of Long Valley, NJ and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords with a 10 AM funeral liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Mausoleum, Colonia. Viewing will be Thursday 7-9 PM and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
