John Aitken, 54, of Edison, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at JFK Haven Hospice.  Born in West Islip, NY, he resided in Edison for the past 22 years.  He was a graduate of Niagara University, receiving his Bachelor's Degree with the Class of 1986.  John was employed as a Paralegal at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Newark for the past 21 years.  He was involved with the OLP Boy Scouts of America Troop 53 for many years, most recently serving as Committee Chairman.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Peace.

John was predeceased by his mother, Marilyn Aitken, in 2000.  He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Diane Aitken (nee: Heintz); his three sons: Matthew, Brian and Daniel; his father, Donald; his brothers: Scott, Richard, David, Christopher, David and Michael; his sisters: Susan, Donna and Darlene; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, at 9:30 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863 followed by a 10:00 Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords.  Visitation will be on Thursday, September 8, from 7:00-9:00 pm and on Friday, September 9, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm.  Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen.
