Joel G. Leiter, 81, of Fords, passed away at home on July 22, 2024. He was born on June 10, 1943, in East Brunswick. Joel was a graduate of East Brunswick High School Class of 1965. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Dewey during the Vietnam War. Joel was an Electrician at General Motors in Linden. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy where he was the Sexton for many years. Joel was a Master Mason, 33rd Degree at the Raritan Lodge. He was a fan of the NY Giants.

Joel was predeceased by his wife, Elaine Leiter (nee Rebovich), in 2024.

He is survived by a son, Jason Leiter, and his partner, Karen, of Belmar; a daughter, Deborah Leiter, of Fords; two grandchildren, Chloe and Isabel Leiter; a sister, Linda Benson, of Monroe; two nieces, Yvonne Milonopoulos and Lisa Lowich; and a nephew, Stephen Rebovich.

Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, 4-7 pm, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joel's name may be made to the Living Memorial Fund at St. Peter's Church.
