Joel Ira Greenspan, 85, of Matawan, entered into eternal rest on October 8, 2015, at the Monmouth Care Center in Long Branch. He was born in Perth Amboy and had resided in Matawan for 40 years.

Joel graduated Perth Amboy High School and Utica College of Syracuse University with a degree in Marketing.

He began his working career at Flagstaff Frozen Foods, in Newark, then joined the Berg Agency in Metuchen as a Real Estate Sales Agent and became the Manager of the Commercial Dept. He went on to be Associate Manager of Service Station Development at Kennilworth Assoc. Park Ave. NY. Joel joined Metzendorf Bros. Flour Distributors where he was Asst. to the President, then became Sales Manager and Commodity Buyer for Dawn Foods in Edison after the merger until his retirement in 1997. He remained a Bakery Consultant on a part time basis until his death.

Joel was a member of the New Jersey Bakers Board of Trade and served as Recording Secretary. He was a member of Pat's 30 acres, in Wall and was past president of Temple Beth Ahm in Aberdeen from 1978-1979.

He was predeceased by his sister Lois Karp. Joel is survived by his son Alan H. and his wife Jodi of Oakhurst, his granddaughters Lindsay and Emily and his close friend Peggy Hayes of Keyport. He is also survived by his nieces Beth and Amy of MA, and Harriett of Ohio.

Funeral services will be on Sunday at 10:30 am at Temple Beth Ahm 550 Lloyd Road, Aberdeen. Interment will follow in Shaarey Tefiloh Cemetery, Perth Amboy.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy. In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to the charity of ones choice.
