Obituary

Joan Romano, 88, of Fords, passed peacefully on Thursday July 2, 2020 at Parker at River Road in Piscataway.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on July 13, 1931. As a teen, she moved to Newark NJ, where she met and married her beloved husband, Anthony, before settling in Fords, NJ, in 1960, where they raised their four children together.

She was a stay at home mom for many years, until she began working part time as a School Aid at School #25 in Fords, where she worked for many years, before retiring in 1994.

Joan enjoyed going on family vacations, reading, sewing, spending time with family, going out to luncheons, and traveling throughout the United States, Europe, and the tropical islands with her husband.

She was a member of the Woodbridge Emblem Club, Our Lady of Peace Church and the Our Lady of Peace Council, Columbiettes of Fords.

She leaves behind, her beloved husband of 65 years, Anthony, her four beloved children; Jo-Ann Ferri, Joseph Romano and his wife Anne, Tony Romano and his wife Kristina, Gina Repace and her husband Gary, her seven cherished grandchildren; Jill, Kristina, Erik, Steven, Vinny, Nicholas, and Derek and three dear great-grandchildren; Gianna, Kayleigh and Neil.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 9, 2020, from 4 pm to 7 pm, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin on Friday, July 10, 2020, at 10 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords. Interment will follow privately in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory, to the charity of your choice or Alzheimer's Association
