Joan O'Rourke, 80, of Woodbridge, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, at Hackensack-Meridian/JFK Medical Center in Edison.

Born and raised in Woodbridge, she was a lifelong member of the community.  Joan held many titles during her career mostly working with medical coding and billing.  Her last position was with Mitruska Family Chiropractic in Perth Amboy.  Joan enjoyed spending time tending to her garden, and especially cherished going to family events. She was a loving mother, a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, dear aunt, cousin, and sister-in-law, attentive cat mom, and supportive friend to many both near and far.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents Angelo and Dorothy Ferraro.  Her husband Bill O'Rourke passed away just 5 short years ago.

She is survived by her three children: Robin Ferreira, Robert Balogh, his wife Katie, and Sue Noble; 9 grandchildren: Tabatha Noble, Nicholas Ferreira, Daniel Noble, Jesse Ferreira, Brandon Noble, Cassandra Ferreira, Robert Balogh, Steven Bonner, and Tara Zanett; three great-grandchildren: Arianna Noble, Aurora Ferreira, and Callie Ferreira; and las but not least, her four kitties whom she loved like children: Kittie, Cookie, Cocoa, and Tiny.

Everyone who knew Joan loved her and her big smile.  Known as "Grammy," to not only family but many of her friends she will always be in everyone's hearts and minds. We will all fondly remember all the times that we were able to share with her.

Private cremation was under the direction of Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords.  A memorial mass will be offered for Joan at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at St James Roman Catholic Church, 369 Amboy Ave., Woodbridge.  Please join the family in honoring Joan's life and memory.
