Joan Elizabeth Levins Polansky, 75, of Edison entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 13, 2011, at her home.
She was born in Elizabeth and has resided in Edison since 1965. Joan was a Registered Nurse and Assistant Director of Nurses at Roosevelt Hospital in Edison for 26 years before retiring in 1996. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords, a member of the Auxiliary Board at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, and a graduate of Seton Hall University in 1957. She loved to cook and go out for lunch. The Christmas season was always her favorite.
Joan was a loving wife, mom, and daughter. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, in 1998; her parents, Dr. Harold Peter and Jessie Baker Levins; and her brother, Harold Peter Levins, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Michael C. Polansky of Helmetta and Nicholas John Polansky and his wife Karrie of West Chester, Ohio; several nieces, grandnieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at 10:00 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace. Interment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park. Visitation is on Monday, October 17, 2011, from 3:00-7:00 pm.
