Michael Ries Jensen, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in Stuart, Florida. He was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, the son of the late, Sophie and Einar Jensen. He also formerly lived on Long Beach Island and Princeton, New Jersey.
Michael had a distinguished career as a general contractor and President of Michael Riesz & Company from 1956-2010. He was a Past President of the Building Contractors Association of New Jersey and was a Trustee of the New Jersey Carpenter's Benefits Fund for many years.
Michael was a graduate of Bucknell University and a loyal member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served as a First Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He was an avid fisherman and traveled extensively.
Michael is survived by his wife, Carolyn "Lynne" Morrison Jensen, his brother, Richard Christian Jensen, and his former wife, Gairda Messersmith Jensen. He was a loving father to his children and grandchildren, Christian Einar and Corina Jensen, and their children, Britany and Steven Rusciano, Andrew Michael and Mary Jensen, and their children, Geneva and Penelope Jensen, and Eric Ries and Pam Jensen, and their children, Garret and Sophie Jensen. He was the loving stepfather and grandfather to Cristopher L. Bradley, Debra H. Bradley, Gale and Bryan Morrison, and their children Archibald and Danby Gale Morrison, and Caroline and Harald Ullrich.
From, 11 a.m. to 12noon, on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, there will be a Gathering of Friends and Family at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, New Jersey, 08863. Graveside services will follow in Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodbridge, New Jersey and a reception at Pretty Brook Tennis Club, 229 Pretty Brook Road, Princeton, New Jersey from 2-4 p.m.
